Message: ...and we struggle to put IKEA furniture together.
As human beings, we do amazing things but we're also pretty limited... compared to God.
One quick way to work this out is by sitting on your lounge room floor surrounded by a pile of flat-packed furniture and just an Allen key. 'Help!! How do I put this crazy thing together?' Yet God put the whole universe together... in his mind. And then he just spoke it into existence. And He used only words!
Take a moment to consider... whilst we're busy working out how to cope with all the complexity in the world, God actually made this complexity. And he did it for us! He made the universe with a human scale to it so that we find ourselves in between galaxies and molecules. You see, there's no need to live in fear of swimming pool sized raindrops crashing from the sky and drowning us in an instant. And gravity isn't so strong that it squashes us flat. Our world has been scaled and fitted perfectly for human habitation.
It's just one of many, many remarkable things about the world that make it a place where we can live our lives with each other and before God.
When you read the Bible, you discover some of the back-story behind God's creation. It turns out that Jesus plays a central role. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the one who made our creation and sustains it. He's also the one who's entered into it as a man to save us from our sin. So, have you thought about thanking Jesus for all that he's done? Here's a passage from the Bible that does just this:
"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things"
So while you're wrestling with that Allen key, don't forget to thank God for the amazing privilege of existence in His world.
Prayer: Dear God you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things.
Bible verse: Rev. 4:11: "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things.
